User Reviews about Logitech Notebook Cooling Pad (N100)

I'm a fan of Logitech products. I've been using their mice and keyboards for years without a single complaint. Generally, I think the cooler is a good unit: it's quiet, ergonomic and easy to use.

In terms of effectiveness, I think it is totally sufficient for the average user. However, as an avid gamer, my Dell XPS M1530 tends to get extraordinarily hot. In this situation, the Logitech cooler doesn't even make a dent in its heat signature.

So, if you're an average computer user who occasionally uses some graphics intensive applications, this model is for you. If you are a hardcore gamer who plays state of the arts games, then this cooler is not going to do the trick for you. -- Not for Gamers
My 18+ month-old Dell Studio 1735 (17" widescreen laptop) suddenly started shutting down without warning about 3 months ago. After eliminating the possibility of a virus, I figured it had to be overheating -- especially since it was happening only when watching video (even though I'd done that for 18+ months without incident). So after some research, I selected this Logitech pad. I was concerned it might not work for my laptop because of some user reviews who claimed it wouldn't help laptops that vented from anywhere but the bottom, but for mine it works perfectly; since using this Logitech pad, my laptop hasn't shut down once.

It's super-lightweight yet sturdy, is reasonably comfortable on my lap, and securely fits my large laptop. My big laptop is about 2" wider than the Logitech pad, but the pad's big enough so that the rubber feet on the laptop bottom rest on the pad, so it doesn't slip or slide around. It's very quiet, just slightly louder than my laptop's own fan.

Absolutely would buy again, and highly recommend! -- Does the trick, and works well with my Dell Studio 1735
I have a Dell studio with a 15.6" screen and it fits perfectly on this.
This is exactly what I was looking for when I bought this.
It is quiet, I don't hear any noise from it and my laptop has cooled down considerably.
It looks like flimsy plastic, but it is actually pretty solid.
Very good product. -- Just what i wanted.
Bought this for my son, who complained about heat build-up in his lap-top. He has an older unit and had to be careful and prop it up or lose data, etc. Completely happy now, no more overheating. -- Does the job!
I received a Gateway notebook from a sibling when my old Dell notebook had run its course, and my sibling purchased a Mac notebook. She mentioned the computer shutting down due to overheating, and I did notice the problem myself but it wasn't too bad. I had at that point mostly used the notebook for word processing and internet browsing.

After I had purchased a computer game, I noticed the real problem with it. Gateways are notoriously bad with overheating, and the laptop would just shut itself down after a half hour of play. I also purchased Windows XP Pro and had a hassle installing it, as the laptop would shut down during the install from overheating as well.

I was about to give up and dip into my emergency savings to purchase another notebook, although I didn't really want to as I don't really need one at home much anymore. I then thought of trying a cooling pad.

I initially purchased one from the alleged #1 cooling pad manufacturer, Targus. The cooling pad was an absolute piece of garbage and did not work at all, it had enough trouble actually staying plugged in and getting power because of faulty design.

I then took another look, and decided to go with Logitech, which has been a very good PC accessory manufacturer for me in the past.

And they delivered again. My notebook which was shutting down within a half hour at most, and running very hot within 5 minutes of playing any PC game or intensive video, suddenly was very quiet and could play for hours and hours without so much as loud fan noise. This cooling pad is that good.

I was initially worried about the slope, and the laptop falling down due to gravity, hence why I chose the flat Targus at first over Logitech. But I couldn't have been more wrong, the notebook virtually sticks to the pad, it will have very slight movements at most if you manually move it, but otherwise it will sit there. In fact, if anything, when I close my lie I have to be careful when opening it, as the entire unit gets pulled up, that's how good the grip is.

The design is beautiful and ingenius. It looks great and is obviously effective.

I have only had this for a few days so I don't know the durability. But Logitech backs it with a 3 year warranty, and that's more than worth the price. That is a very good warranty for any product, and especially a cooling pad, I doubt there is a better one on the market. The product does seem very sturdy, it appears to be made of plastic but it is the thick type that you would find for a computer casing for example, or some other sturdy type of plastic.

In terms of battery use, it is indeed very low and I have not noticed any difference in battery power and time.

I highly recommend this product, especially if your computer is overheating to the point of shutdowns (ie you have the misfortune of owning a Gateway, the worst brand of computer available). -- Saved a Gateway
